Thanks to Benjy (that’s me
) for sending us this month’s header design, if you’re wondering; its a scan of my brand new sketch book. Its still pretty much empty at the moment but I thought the binding looked nice.
I’ve updated my personal blog recently so if you fancy a look at some of my drawings and pointless mutterings, please check it out www.thelab7.com.
If you’d like to contribute a design, photo, illustration etc. for next month’s header then please email us at hello@prettyshittycity.co.uk.
Images should be supplied in JPEG (or similar) and atleast 750 pixels wide by 280 pixels tall.

Geekthree is new podcast from three Swansea web designers (including me!). Each episode we chat about:-
Tech News - anything from new websites & gadgets, music to terrorists.
Pitch an Idea - we each cook up a potentially-clever/probably-stupid idea for a new website.
Our Week - if you’ve ever done some creative work for a client then you should be able to relate to this feature, as we moan about annoying client problems, and sometimes just chat about life.
Head over to our website where you can find out a bit more, read the blog and listen to our podcast.

Pretty Shitty City certainly tries to keep it’s events calendar up to date, but its a tough old game. For a bigger, user-powered guide that specialises in gigs from accross Wales, why not check out Welsh Gigs?
If you’re a promoter or a band, you can log in to add events yourself, or if you’re a music lover you can browse the gigs and check out the ‘form a band’ section. You can even suggest a music related news item for inclusion on the homepage.

Tyron Francis is a freelance photographer based in Swansea, and as he’s just re-designed his website, I thought it was a good time to do a little profile on him.

Through exploring Swansea, music & people, Francis has built up a portfolio with varied work, and he gets the geek vote too, for publishing his work under a Creative Commons license.
The two main themes of his work seem to be community and music, both of which he his obviously passionate about. The photos have a gritty documentary feel, but still feel colourful and full of life, capturing moments of raw emotion and day-to-day life as if they were always the same thing.

In his own words, Tyron sees “… photography as a tool for social awareness and change, or rather MY tool for social awareness and change.”
