New Header Design
We’ve got a nice new header photo this month, from Swansea Photographer Tyron Francis.
This tasty Wimbledon-inspired image clashed a bit with the old hot pink background, so I’ve introduced a dodgy blue one instead… why not?

A little late on this one, but by all accounts the gig was great and these photos are definitely worth showing.

Photos by Swansea photographer Tyron Francis of Black Lips playing at Sin City, 2nd May .

Local photographer Ceri Davies has some great shots of Brant Bjork & The Bros, who played at Sin City last week as part of the Dylan Thomas Fringe Festival.
You can see the whole set of photos online here.
Thanks again to Dan Penman for sending another of his photos to us for our monthly header design.
Dan is an amateur photographer, currently experimenting with Lomography and studying Art & Design in Swansea, you can see some more of his photos on his flickr page Polygon Window.
If you’d like to contribute a design, photo, illustration etc. for next month’s header (lucky no.13) then please email us at hello@prettyshittycity.co.uk.
Images should be supplied in JPEG (or similar) and atleast 750 pixels wide by 280 pixels tall.

The Groundnuts & Independents are performing live at the exist.outlet this friday from 7pm - 9.30pm. The event also includes a new photographic exhibition from Natalie Hemingway-Main.
The next Framework Social is on the way; Tuesday 6th of November at St. James Social Club.
This is probably Swansea’s most unique event and Pretty Shitty City recommends checking it out.
In their own words…
“If you haven’t been before you can find us on St James crescent, just off Walters rd as you walk towards the uplands from the city centre.
As always, we are looking for an artist in residence to respond to the proceedings; performance based work to entertain the masses and static, film or video work to exhibit throughout the venue.
If you think you could contribute to the shared experience, then reply to this email with contact details and a brief description of your work and ideas, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
The Social is an excellent opportunity to experience new and challenging work; experiment with your own practice and ideas in the unique context of the St James Social club; interact with like and unlike minded people, or just come for the atmosphere…
We’re looking forward to it already.
Framework.”

Until then, check out these photos below from previous Framework artist in residence, Adam Goodge and his project ‘Hello, I’m Johnny Cash’.
Thanks to Stephen Donnelly for supplying us with this month’s header.
“Anyone whos ever visited the A&E after a miss-spent night in town should recognise it…” as the view from the bus stop at Morriston Hospital. I have to admit that I’ve been there.
If you’d like to have your design or photo featured on our header for a month or so, please email us: hello@prettyshittycity.co.uk.

Thanks to Dan Penman for supplying the next banner for Pretty Shitty City. The photo is of Swansea’s infamous bridge that now sits redundantly on the cycle path along Mumbles Road.
Skating (or cycling) through the bridge reminds me of a level in ‘Mario Kart Double Dash!!‘ …pity you can’t race up the sides and lob bananas at people.

Against all the odds, the sun turned up in Swansea on Sunday for Exist’s skateboard competition.
Thanks to the competitors for putting on a cool show, and of course to the organisers, bands and everyone else who helped put on the event.
