Nina Morgan
Nina Morgan was born in Swansea and attended Central St. Martins School of Art & Design, and The West Wales School of Art achieving a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art.

Since graduating she has taught and exhibited throughout Wales. The themes in her work have evolved through extensive travel in Asia, Australasia & America. Diverse cultures, architecture, colour, taste and smell are all important influences, and her images evoke the notion of memory, recreating a personal poignant moment in time.

“My recent work has been based upon the notion of a journey and a sense of belonging. I have always been interested in nostalgia and have a vast collection of sentimental objects which I take inspiration from. Through my prints, drawings & paintings I hope to portray their beauty and personal sentimental importance.”

Elissa V Evans
Born in 1976 to an English Mum and a Welsh Dad – a happy family of two older brothers, a baby sister and quite a few family pets. Growing up and living Swansea, the little town by the sea, led to a childhood full of competitive swimming with Swansea Dolphins which took up most of her (and her family’s time) but keeping sketch book diaries began a dream of becoming an Artist.

“I have been [and still am] fascinated with my self image- how I feel and think I look- in comparison to the images I see of myself- be it in drawing, a print, a photograph or in a reflection. I often work in strong lines and colours, when printing, but have a true love of the ‘sketch’, the study’, a beautiful hand drawn image that makes you stop and smile.”

Graduating from Swansea Institute and DeMontfort University with a BA. Hons in Fine Art / Printmaking, Elissa spent some time the big smoke working in Children’s’ Books and Television and a passion for illustration grew to match that of her obsession with self portraiture and a new dream of singing. Returning home, Elissa worked at Swansea Print Workshop and now sings for her supper as a Jazz singer, often with Swansea’s very own ‘Women In Jazz’

“In an attempt to move away from the traditional self portrait my current work is focusing on producing images that may not have me in them but which use ‘treasured possessions’ and or reference personal memories. Although these stem from the personal, I hope to evoke a sense of history and even a recognition of shared experience.”

The Brunswick is now into its fourth year of hosting exhibitions of original work by contemporary artists. It is an exciting venue that shows work by new and emerging artists in an atmosphere that is as far removed from a traditional art gallery as it is possible to be. The Brunswick offers a wide range of people the chance to buy affordable original art, which is a good move in the current climate of falling share prices and declining interest on savings. Artists from across South Wales and the South of England are booking into the venue because it gives them a chance to sell their work and shows their art to a much wider viewing public than a conventional gallery. It’s also creating a bit of a buzz on the gallery circuit and attracting talent scouts, which benefits the artists even more.
