Fflam Postponed Due to Bad Weather

According to the press release below, Fflam has been postponed until a later date, due to poor weather conditions.

Due to consistently bad weather conditions over the last few weeks, we regret that the Fflam Festival has been postponed. This has been a hard, but well considered decision and we believe it is the best one for all concerned. Due to the bad weather, we have been delayed in putting the infrastructure in place and it is a big concern that the weather conditions will hugely dampen the experience we want to give all our festival goers. Postponing the festival will mean that we can give everyone the Fflam festival experience they deserve, bands, organisers and festivalgoers alike. We expect the new date to be at the end of the summer and are doing all we can do get everything reorganised as quickly and efficiently as possible so that we can confirm the date within the week. Full refunds will shortly be available from point of purchase for anyone who wishes to take this option, but we would like to reassure everyone that the festival WILL take place and encourage them to await further information on the new date before making this decision.

Fair enough, but it rains a lot in Swansea and festivals are meant to be muddy.

Is this for real? If it is, then it’s a bit of a joke!! Surely they are going to lose some of the bands who will be able/willing to play with a change this close to the event!
Rain is all part and parcel of a festival,

    First there was the camping

Second it has been postponed for rain!?!?!

Whats going to be next? Do you think this is going to be a one off festival then, put it down to experience and not try to do it again - everything that could go wrong seems to have gone wrong.

Looks like it’s on in September

I can see their point, the park is utterly waterlogged and apparently they could not get the infrastructure up in time.

They will be contacting the Bands and trying to keep as much of the lineup the same as possible. I can confirm that the aftershow parties planned in Sin City next week are off. Face/Off will be as usual on friday

    Another roaring success for Swansea!

What a load of cr*p -This lot couldn’t organise an p**s-up in a brewery etc. I for one will be getting my money back *3.
I can’t for one minute imagine the same bands will be available again.

I was in Derricks records the other day and the orginisers were also there, they were talking about how poorly the tickets had been going (less than 5000 had been sold with under a month to go!). There’s been next to no publicity, the camping fiasco was hilarious and this is even funnier.
Imagine if Micky Eavis said Glastonbury had been called off cos of rain FFS

    BIG, BIG JOKE

  5. Dylan Tomos Says:

And this is why they call Swansea-the graveyard of ambition.
You want to do something successfuly, do it somewhere else, This place is PWNed

  6. tyron Says:

word on the street is that a couple of the big bands pulled out. but of course the weather is the REAL reason :-p

  7. Shaolin Wolf Says:

I dont know how true this is, but I read somewhere that Feeder hadn’t even properly confirmed. IF there is any truth in that, it could well apply to some of the other bands. Speaking to a gent semi involved in this fiasco who felt he was being cocked around (he shall remain nameless to protect the innocent) the impression I got of the organisers was of a gang of chancers essentially making it up as they went, seemingly blindly hoping for the best. Using the weather for an excuse is farcical; you’re putting an event on in SWANSEA for cocks sake, if you are not working the rain into the equation you really dont know what you are doing…

  8. Kes Says:

I DON’T SEE THEM CALLING OFF T IN THE PARK DUE TO RAIN, IT’S RUBBISH.

  9. matty Says:

Fflam are still VERY set on making the festival happen at the end of September, This is not talk, they are all working flat out on it

  11. Dan Pope Says:

Sounds like Sin City have really made the effort to rescue the weekend - cheers guys.

Shame the Dropkick Murphys couldn’t be pursuaded to play, was really looking forward to seeing them.

As for Fflam, isn’t holding it at the end of September going to carry with it the same pitfalls of rain and low attendence though? Or are they hoping a new group of students will all be interested?

Is it the same Lethargy as from years ago in Ellingtons or are they new imposters?

  12. Shaolin Wolf Says:

Imposters. Though this Lethargy have been on the scene for years and years now bless em, i think theyve worked hard for the name (ironically). But when you say Ellingtons Lethargy I assume you mean Adam West/Nick/Mial etc…
