After getting bottled off at the “Heineken Beer Festival” in Singleton Park way back in the early 90’s (’94?), the Manics promised they’d never play in Swansea again. I just wish they’d keep their promise, they were bad then (when there was four of them) and they’re much worse now.

Wow is that true? To be honest I like the Manics, they’re one of the better bands on the line-up so far.
I feel its worth supporting this, as its likely to bring more live music to Swansea. The success of ‘Escape into the Park’ and ‘Party in the Park’ led in part to Fflam being granted a license.

  3. Cerys Says:

Yep its true, I seem to remember hearing that some of them had attended Swansea Uni previously and they really wanted to come back and play here, apparently.
It was reported on the cover of the Evening Post on the Monday following the festie.

Anyway, good luck with Fflam (are the Stranglers still on?)Think I’ll go along just to see Preston ;)

The Manics ploayed the Heineken Festival early 90’s. They all went to Sawansea Uni apparantly?

I was at the gig, it was free to get in, it was during a Swansea home game and a lot of drunk Swans fans turned up and flung bootles at the stage!

They continued to play, a wine bottle missed the Bass player by inches! and smashed on the amp behined.
It wasnt nice at all, I’m suprised they continued.
    They did go off twice.

I dont like theyre music much either, but I’ll be there to support it.

Have agood one if you go.

PMSL. £115 for a “festival” ticket including camping at convienienty located fairwood airport!!! :D
err, why not have the camping alongside the bands -like at normal festies cos your a bit stuffed if, after a few bevvies or whatever you miss the last bus to the camp site :p

    but All the best anyway.

  6. Matthew Says:

I’m not fussed on the Manics but its great to see that such a popular european band like Placebo have agreed to headline

    Put Swansea on the map!

  7. Emma Says:

They don’t seem to have got very far with the lineup do they? This list has been static for weeks now, and the website has been promising a new site ‘coming soon’ for the same amount of time… It’s only a couple of months away…

  8. Benjy Says:

You’re right its getting very late!
I saw a election leaflet from the conservatives yesterday, they said they were trying to oppose the festival. So perhaps they havent atually got planning permission yet, anyone out there know for sure?

  9. terry bigdog Says:

the sooner we get some more bands listed the better. what are they playing at? did you know the dropkick murphys are playing there? well they are that’s why me and double belly piper are going.

  10. Rosemary Martin Says:

Have the camping area got a licence Ive heard reports that there isn’t any camping
Manics are the best thing to come out of Wales

  11. Benjy Says:

Yeah I’ve heard that the camping license has been canceled.

  12. Chris Says:

The manics are a brilliant rocking band and I would go just to see them-the Stereophonics also came out of Wales-equally as good–camping needs to be sorted or it wont be a festival.

  13. Jay Wire Says:

haha you obviosuly have no taste if you don’t like the Manics.
I wish I could’ve seen the Manics back then but I was too young.
Ah well.. you obviously an uneducated tasteless person. I could go on a massive Nicky Wire style rant now but I really can’t be bothered.
    Stay FUCKING Beautiful

Anyone know what’s happening this year (if anything). After getting ripped off last year in what was by all accounts a huge scam I’m not too keen to part with money until I know something definite is happening.
